11 Mar 23 - Second Team building day (Location and details TBC)
26 June- 2 July 23 - Ride to Freedom challenge (Begins in France, over the Pyrenees and into Spain)
8 July 23 - Post expedition catch-up event
All applications will be considered equally and against the following criteria:
ELIGIBILITY
This event is for FWC members - if you haven’t signed up to FWC previously please do so here.
All applicants must be female partners (spouse or long-term partner) of military personnel - the military personnel can be currently serving or a veteran.
We want to showcase the diversity of our incredible FWC community and we hope to encourage women from all backgrounds and experiences to apply.
All applicants must feel they are physically able to participate in the challenge.
Eligibility will be confirmed on application.
RECRUITMENT TEAM
The recruitment team will be responsible for managing the recruitment process and will be made up of the following:
FWC’s Adventure Approval Committee (made up of 5 Committee members)
Stephanie Quintrell- FWC Operations Support Officer and R2F Organiser
Veronica Sefton- FWC Member and Expedition Lead
COMMITMENT
Commitment to the team and the challenge is of utmost importance. Completing the expedition will be challenging both physically and mentally, and will require the team to be fully supportive of each other, in order to all enjoy the experience and get the most from it. All applicants must ensure they take responsibility for developing and maintaining the necessary fitness levels required for this type of expedition.
PERSONAL INDEMNITY
It is strongly encouraged that all applicants get personal accident insurance for the team building days. An online waiver will need to be signed before any organised activities on the team building days commences. Participants will also need to organise their own insurance for the expedition and ensure the insurance covers for the activity of horse riding overseas.
FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION
The final participants will be required to make a personal contribution of £650 and a maximum of £50 per team building day. You will also need to purchase the following:
Personal accident insurance for all team building events and the challenge itself
Travel insurance for the expedition
Personal clothing and safety wear/equipment (A kit list will be provided)
ADMINISTRATION
Please be mindful that FWC is an all-volunteer initiative and organisation of such an expedition is a challenge in itself. It is therefore politely requested that all paperwork and relevant administration is completed in a timely manner and within deadlines set. To make this event a success all applicants will be expected to take on particular roles and responsibilities within the team and to fully engage/support team mates in the build up and on the event itself.
