FWC Adventure Academy

Learn . Lead . Inspire

The new FWC Adventure Academy provides members with additional training and qualifications. With demand for FWC growing, training and nurturing our future leaders is vitally important to sustaining this growth and ensuring we are able to reach and provide adventurous opportunities for as many women as possible.

Additionally, women remain heavily underrepresented in the outdoor space with a large majority of male leaders and guides. The Adventure Academy seeks to redress this imbalance by offering courses in Lowland Leader and Mountain Leader training, as well as various other qualifications.

In 2024, the following qualifications have been achieved:

15 x Outdoor First Aiders

4 x Lowland Leaders

2 x Mountain Leaders (Training)

7 x Lowland Leader (Training)

1 x Off-Site Safety Management

5 x Mental Health First Aiders

1 x Competent Crew Sailing

One of our goals for 2025 is to deliver a regional event where 75% of the leaders are FWC members. We will develop the Adventure Academy pathway by supporting our graduates to deliver challenges using their new qualifications.

As courses for 2025 are finalised, opportunities to join the Adventure Academy will be emailed out to FWC members.
