FWC virtual pen y fan

Saturday 18 april 2020

At FWC we feel passionately about the power of physical exercise and the outdoors to help overcome adversity. Through adventure and challenge, FWC seeks to combat the loneliness and isolation felt by many in our community - never has this felt more real than now.

Every year we conduct the FW100 when we climb the infamous Pen y Fan - a peak that holds a special place in the heart of the British military community. As it is not possible to conduct the event physically this year we have vowed to VIRTUALLY climb the 886m of Pen y Fan and we would love you to join us!

You don’t need to be a member of FWC - anyone can take part and here’s how:

  1. Complete the form below to get involved. There is no entry fee - it is just so we can track how many people are joining us.

  2. Decide which charity to raise money for. FWC’s chosen charity for this event is Scotty’s Little Soldiers - a wonderful charity that provides support for bereaved British Forces children and young people. If you would also like to donate to them please follow the link below:

    Donate to Scotty’s Little Soldiers

However we appreciate that people have personal reasons to support other charities close to their hearts so if you’d like to fundraise for a different charity then please feel free!

We recommend a minimum of £5 donation per household.

  3. Work out where you will climb your 886m. It could be your staircase, a hilly garden or local hill. (Please note that you must follow the current government guidelines).

  4. When? 0001hrs - 2359hrs Saturday 18 April 2020.

  5. Who can take part? Anyone! You can conduct the challenge individually or form a team and divide the height up between your household/family or friends.

  6. Spread the word! Get friends/neighbours/family involved in this exciting challenge. The more people we can get involved the more money we can raise for charity!

  7. Share photos on social media using the #FWC and let us know how much money you raise by commenting on FWC FaceBook or emailing us on info@forceswiveschallenge.org

Here’s how FWC’s founder, Heather, is tackling the challenge.

We’re a family of 4 and need to climb our stairs 312 times 😱. We plan on covering the height from 7am - 7pm. The kids are going to climb the stairs twice an hour, leaving the adults to climb 12 times an hour. Sounds so simple 😂

WELCOME TO THE VIRTUAL PEN Y FAN!
